Pharmacy Kiosks in Arizona

Patient convenience is the focus, but will pharmacy kiosks save patients valuable time since they can now skip going into their pharmacy to pick up a prescription?

Medavail Technologies is planning to install around 40 pharmacy kiosks — essentially vending machines for medications — around Arizona.

Patient’s will receive their prescription in the form of a QR code, similar to an airline boarding pass. After scanning the QR code and entering a personal pin number for verification, an off-site pharmacist performs a final check after receiving a snapshot of the prescription and pills, and then medication is delivered to the patient. Patients can even speak to a pharmacist via video chat, if needed, or when required by law.

The kiosks are expected to stock over 700 medications.
