Five Must Have Estate Planning Documents.

Advance Medical Directives:  You chose a personal representative to make healthcare decisions for you in case you become incapacitated or are unable to make healthcare decisions for yourself.

Living Will: You specifically address which medical treatments you want to receive in certain instances. This document is generally drafted in conjunction with the advance medical directives.

Durable Power of Attorney: You choose a trusted person to handle your finances if you are unable to do so. Your power of attorney can be effective immediately or upon the happening of a specific event, such as illness or incapacity.

Trusts: Allow you to transfer your assets and avoid court involvement if done correctly.

Wills: You choose who will benefit from your estate and can also name a legal guardian for your minor children, if applicable.
